Who's Your Agent?
Why We Should Be "AI Polygamists"
First, for those newbies…
I’ve decided to focus on the human (dare I say “fleshy?” side of tech (especially AI)) in 2026.
Why?
Sex, like tech, can be wasted on the young. Experience brings nuance, and nuance is where the magic happens.
Tapping, scrolling, viewing, and indulging are all part of our tech behaviors. But what’s the purpose of those motions?
Although digital natives and engineers may have the parts and basic knowledge to use automation, perhaps we, digital pioneers and women (especially those of us with broad and deep business and life experience), can bring a different perspective to the table. That’s why I was compelled to start this new series.
It ties to my previous content about aging. I believe that tech, when used properly, can hold some of the critical answers to longevity!
But now, let’s get into the flesh and bones! This week’s topic is THE AGENT.
What’s an Agent?
It’s simply a smarter version of a chatbot. Basically, it’s software that not only does things for you, but actually uses data and past patterns to create something at lightning speed.
This means instead of just answering questions, agents can actually draft your emails, plan your trips, or analyze your business data while you sleep.
Imagine if your partner, team member, or service providers could do that!
AI can be used for several primary functions, which I’ll explore in later posts. For now, let’s just talk about the top five “suitors” and what they bring to the table.
ChatGPT may be a Rock Star, but Claude & His Friends Are Pretty Hot Too.
I “dated” five different agents this month. They all play an important role in content creation and editing.
Chat GPT
Claude
Co-Pilot
Perplexity
Gemini
Because AI is still evolving and development companies are competing to launch the next big thing, you may want to explore different options.
Another relatable (and non-sexual) analogy: You may shop at multiple stores and eat at different restaurants throughout the year to get different experiences and variety.
MAS (multi-agent systems) are the equivalent of variety stores, where you can get many varied things in one place. We’re not quite there yet, but aggregation systems are coming soon!
My Agent “Dating” Life
I do experiments. I needed a name for a new business venture. So, I gave the challenge to the gang. They came up with similar but wildly different takes on the same problem.
Just like humans, agents have different communication styles, too. Chat was the buttoned-up guy in a blazer; Claude showed up in a soft sweater with a glass of wine. The three other agents didn’t ghost me…I just haven’t gotten to really know them yet. Check back for how the encounters went (see below).
You don’t have to choose among agents, unless you’re upgrading your plan and deciding which one to invest in.
Of course, I’m still the “Robot Overlady” (as I declared last week). The ultimate decision is MINE because every queen needs her court.
I cut and pasted this article into several agents, and Beulah (my nickname for all my agents combined) provided terrific, fun suggestions, which I incorporated.
The original words are mine (human), but my agent was like a real-life agent, offering kind, insightful improvements to my content and style. Of course, you’re welcome to offer human feedback in the Comments section as well.
Some weeks, I’ll give you a task to complete. Others, I’ll recommend new products. Who knows what else I might do!
So, I asked Beulah to come up with names for this section. And the best agent won!
But here’s what you can do…
Test both platforms with the same “prompt” (the clear direction to your agent):
“Who is [fill in your own name]? What did they accomplish in 2025, and what are some possible goals for them in work and in life in 2026?”
To get a complete picture, you currently need a significant online presence. It’ll also educate you on what types of information about you are out in the world. If the agent can’t find you or makes up some weird sh*t about you, don’t get discouraged. I can help you train your agent(s). See below.
What’s Next? What Else Can YOU Do?
I want this series to be super-helpful to YOU, no matter your age or stage in your tech journey.
So, if you have specific questions you’d like me to answer about how to use AI and tech for worthwhile, human purposes, please get in touch. I offer one-on-one coaching and AI-powered marketing services and am also available to speak to small and large professional groups.
And if you are terrified of the AI invasion and want to live in a simple, unplugged world, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. No judgment. Just know that the world is moving fast, and I’d rather you be the one holding the reins (or the whip!) than the one getting left behind.
