That’s quite a list, right?
They are all connected to my “summer adventures.” I’ve been traveling for a little more than 10 days now, and this seemingly rando word grouping is what’s been in my head (and my device screens).
Last month, I expanded this series (which was initially just about dating >50) to include all kinds of things related to sex, life, and tech…the centerpieces of my new brand.
I’ve come to realize that some of my adventures and musings are entertaining, educational, and inspirational to my peers (and those who aspire to live to 100). So, here goes the first installment of “What’s in Nancy’s head this week?”
I auditioned for the Golden Bachelor this year and was appalled to read what Mel apparently said in an interview about only wanting to date women under 60. He’s 66 and, frankly, looks at least as old as I do. If I said I only wanted to date men younger than me who have all their hair and teeth, I would be accused of being a GILF or a Cougar. We all have our preferences, but c’mon, dude! It’s bad enough that I have to deal with that kind of ageism on the dating apps. I don’t need to see it on my other screens, too. Perhaps it’s an ABC publicity stunt or “fake news,” but it irks me (and countless other women) nonetheless.
AI is everywhere (including places it probably shouldn’t be), and I generally embrace and adore it. I wrote a book about it back in 2017, and I now view it as my 24/7 intern. I don’t trust it completely. I am still the robot overlord (or overlady). Canva, one of my favorite AI-powered apps is now valued at about $40B (and was co-founded by a woman). I also recently reconnected with my old friend and colleague, David Adler, who has been a true inspiration in using AI to transform my work and life. Check out his Substack too. He is (like me) a prolific content creator and an OG of experiential marketing and AI!
As for bikinis…I am thrilled that I can still rock one confidently at 69. National Bikini Day (a fauxliday) was on July 5th, and I posted something about the history of two-piece bathing suits, which drew all kinds of engagement. (A combo of history, statistics, and sex seems to be my secret sauce on Instagram). If flesh is the pathway to the brain and heart, so be it!
Argh. TikTok. I love it. I loathe it. Here’s the latest on its future. In the interim, I’ve held off on actively using it. I have enough digital distractions in my life right now. But perhaps in September. See the chart below. Kinda scary. Speaking of frightening stats, according to AI (see #2), people spend an average of 55 minutes and 48 seconds EACH DAY on the app. Just think of what else you could do with 14 more days in 2025!!!
Chocolate. Ahhhh…chocolate! My love affair with it has lasted longer than most of my relationships. And, at the Fancy Food Show this month, I sampled a new product (Figa) that is (believe it or not) even better! Check it out here.
Love this!
