“Ready to date? Medicate!”
That’s one of my favorite Nancy-isms when I’m talking about things like erectile dysfunction (ED) and post-menopausal changes to our lady parts.
I was recently talking to a couple of friends about how people over 50 sometimes lose touch with their self-care, tech skills, and pop culture savvy, which can make them feel (and be treated as) irrelevant.
Curiosity and continuous learning are key to longevity.
So, even if you weren’t a Boy Scout or Girl Scout in your youth, pretend you’re one now and aspire to earn these badges:
Sexual Fitness Badge: Take steps to ensure your parts below the waist are in top shape. Consider HRT (hormone replacement therapy). Consult a sexual health expert (like this one, who has guested on my podcast!)
Tech & AI Savvy; Master Prompter Badge: You don’t need to learn how to code. Just play with some of the cool AI tools and gadgetry that can help you save time and money, design creative stuff, or find cool facts about things that interest you. Join me on May 14th for my FREE online talk about “AI for OGs.”
Shortness & Sweetness Badge: We live in a world that I often describe as a “TikTokian dystopia.” If you can’t process something in 30 seconds or less, it may feel too long these days. Be pithy and compelling, especially when communicating with different generations. If someone wants more information, they’ll ask. Long-form content consumers still exist, but graphic thinkers and people who can summarize will rule! Check out these stats about human attention spans!
The 100 Club Badge: Want to be a centenarian? Only 162K people lived to 100 in 2000. By 2100, there will be more than 18M of us by 2100, according to Statista. Women are far more likely than men (85% versus 15%) to hit triple digits. You can start adopting healthier practices NOW to increase the odds.
Bad-Assery Badge (aka Give Fewer F*cks Badge): Stress kills. Caring about others’ opinions contributes to that stress. So, be kind and listen to people you trust. But don’t be a doormat or people pleaser just to fit in. It may help you earn that 100 Club Badge too!
